Chalemie and Friends Present a Concert in Aid of St Andrew’s Building Fund

Galliarda Ensemble and Singers present: Angell’s Musick in Mortall’s dresse. English music from the 17th century by John Wilson and his contemporaries.

Admission: Entry by donation to the St Andrew’s Building Fund

John Wilson was one the most famous and prominent musicians and singers of the Stuart age; a man who was well known and well liked in the theatre, court, university and chapel royal. He was a prolific composer of over 300 songs, some of them from famous staged productions by Shakespeare and Fletcher. These resulted from his long service to the King’s Men Company, for which he started his London career as a boy singer in the Blackfriars theatre.

All to be preceded by a selection of music for sackbuts, cornetts and curtals by the Chalemie Renaissance Wind Band.

Galliarda is sponsored by Continuo Foundation.
